Though Myrtle Beach is most known for its bustling busy season, the off-season is quite the sweet retreat for our snow bird guests. Though cooler than during the summer, the beach offers a welcomed warm up from the frosty north and a not-so-subtle change of pace that our guests can’t resist. If traffic, kids, and crowds aren’t for you then an off season vacation to Myrtle Beach could be just the thing to warm you up this winter. Indoor Attractions

The Myrtle Beach Area features a wide variety of indoor attractions that are ideal for colder than average temperatures or a rare rainy day at the beach. Animal lovers will enjoy the underwater creatures at the Ripley’s Aquarium those partial to art will enjoy spending the afternoon at Wine and Design. The BigD Theater at Market Common provides the best movie experience in the area while the Indoor Shooting Range is a great place to let off some steam. No matter what your interests are, you are sure to find plenty of indoor attractions where you can stay warm and have a fun at the same time.

Myrtle Beach offers a wide variety of museums, perfect for a casual cultural afternoon. Appreciators of art will love the local and regional artists displayed at the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon Art Museum. Located along South Ocean Boulevard, this popular museum celebrates art of all genres. History buffs will love the Civil War collection at the Indoor Shooting Range and lovers of all things nautical will want to check out the South Carolina Maritime Museum, located south in Georgetown.

If the theater is more up your alley, check out the live shows at places like The Alabama Theater, Legends in Concert, and The Carolina Opry. Each offers unique shows that feature bright costumes, talented performers, and brilliant choreography.

 

Local Events

Don’t be fooled into thinking that Myrtle Beach goes into hibernation during the off-season; quite the opposite actually! The area comes to life with exciting events, giving you the perfect opportunity to enjoy time on the town. January events include the highly anticipated South Carolina Restaurant week, the Blues-A-Palooza series at the House of Blues, and the Improv Musical at Uptown Theater. There will also be several Valentine’s themed events during the month of February that are perfect for couples who are celebrating the holiday with a romantic beach getaway.
