Come Experience Alligator Adventure in Myrtle Beach
Located at North Myrtle Beach's Barefoot Landing complex, Alligator Adventure allows guests to get up close and personal with the various types of alligators that reside in the outdoor lakes and ponds as well as hundreds of other species of unique animals housed in the indoor exhibits.
The name "Alligator Adventure" only tells a small part of the story of this 20-acre nature preserve. Alligators are indeed the main attraction, with more than 800 of the prehistoric creatures ranging from tiny hatchlings to 15-foot monsters on the property. Crocodiles, grand caymans and rare albinos are among the collection. But other reptiles of all types are also on display, including a wide array of snakes, frogs, lizards and turtles, including giant Galapagos tortoises. Rare tropical birds, otters, bats, lemurs, tigers and bobcats complete the profusion of species on display.
Alligator Adventure hosts numerous shows and exhibitions during operational hours, including demonstrations of alligator and snake feeding and handling. The shows are as entertaining as they are educational, with the expert staff providing informative presentations while showing visitors what makes these creatures special and unique.
Alligator Adventure's expert staff, led by staff veterinarian Dr. Sam Seashole (known as "Croc Doc"), provide insight into the lives of the animals while seeming to endanger their own lives by interacting with some of nature’s more efficient hunters and killers. Whether holding shut the powerful jaws of gators or holding some of the world's deadliest snakes in the amphitheater, there's no shortage of fun and excitement for folks of all ages.
